  'Ruikou' machiya house: a traditional Japanese holiday home (vacation rental) located in the historic Shimabara district, within walking distance of Nishi Honganji, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Easy access to Kyoto Station and the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. Built in the 'chaya kenchiku' teahouse architectural style, Ruikou comprises 2 private machiya buildings: the omoya (main house) and the hanare (detached building), connected by a central Japanese garden. Ruikou spans a generous 184 square metres across two buildings. The omoya's ground floor features a spacious living and dining room flowing into a fully equipped kitchen, with large sliding windows framing the Japanese garden. The upper floor offers original timber beams, wooden details, tatami rooms, a full bathroom and 3 bedrooms, one Western-style and two Japanese-style. The hanare offers a complete space of its own: a living and dining area, kitchen, two double beds, and a bathroom with views of a private tsuboniwa garden, ideal for those who want privacy while still sharing the experience with their group. Ruikou accommodates up to 5 guests in the omoya and 4 in the hanare, with a total capacity of 9.
