  ‘Kohaku-an’ machiya house: a traditional holiday house (vacation rental) located in the Kyoto's Higashiyama area where many of its most famous sightseeing attractions lie. The name 'Kohaku' refers to amber, while 'an' refers to a cozy retreat. The rich, golden hue of amber is found throughout the house - a warm & inviting atmosphere to retreat to after a day of exploring Kyoto. Enter through the noren curtains and into a relaxing oasis. The 1F features a Japanese room with a 'hibukuro' high ceiling that stretches up from the spacious kitchen area all the way to the second floor. Admire the 'tsuboniwa' inner garden which is blanketed by 'koke' (Japanese moss). The 2F features 2 bedrooms, one Western-style and the other Japanese-style. Each showcases quintessential Japanese elements, such as shoji windows, washi paper lanterns and more for a relaxing and authentic stay.
