  ‘Suo-an’ machiya house: a traditional holiday house (vacation rental) located just a short walk from downtown Shijo-Karasuma area, and Nishiki Market, Kyoto's traditional food market. Inspired by the era of new hope, Japan's 'Romantic Taisho Era’ (1912~1926), this machiya house with dark wooden accents and crimson red walls is the perfect balance of traditional Japanese style and vibrant Western culture. Slide open the front door to reveal a spacious Japanese-style room, Japanese garden, kitchen, and luxurious bathroom. Partition the Japanese room with the fusuma sliding doors to create a separate bedroom. Upstairs, you'll find a second Japanese-room in addition to a Western-style bedroom. The Japanese room showcases koshi lattice windows running along one side of the room, while the Western-style bedroom features a vibrant washi light fixture. This renovated Kyoto machiya house also includes modern facilities such as WiFi, IH stovetop, washing machine, and more.
