  ‘Tokikaze’ machiya house: a renovated traditional Japanese holiday house (vacation rental) built in Showa 15 (1940), is located at the foot of Kanazawa Castle & around the corner from Kanazawa City’s largest fresh food market, Omicho Market. The Nishimachi neighborhood, where this machiya house is located, is said to be where the feudal lords of the Maeda Clan first settled to build the Kanazawa Castle & begin ruling over the Kaga Domain. Slide open the doors and enter into a machiya house that features the perfect blend of traditional and modern Japanese style. The recessed sofa in the living room is a fresh take on the traditional Japanese ‘horigotatsu’ table. Horigotatsu are traditionally low tables with a recessed floor so that you can sit comfortably with your legs stretched out. Just beyond the living room is a tatami room, outdoor ‘rotenburo’ bathtub, and a steam sauna to make your stay a more luxurious experience. (The steam sauna is an optional add-on experience) On the 2F is where you’ll find two bedrooms, an additional toilet, & separate wash basin. For a comfortable night’s sleep, retreat to the western-style bedroom with queen-size bed and sofa or the classic tatami room. The tatami can accommodate up to 2 guests on futon bedding.
